Recording vinyl onto my PC...newbie alert!
|
Hey folks,
I saw a similar thread above but thought rather than hijack it and confuse
the issue I'd start my own thread.
Basically I've got a portable vinyl player so its set up next to my PC, and
I want to record some vinyl onto the pc.
I can't afford to get a super duper system to make it really professional,
I'd just like it to be a quality I can listen happily to it on, average
quality would be fine!
Anyway, I've hooked it up to my sound card via phono cable but have noticed
that its in mono and obviously the sound quality isn't very good.
So...whats best to do? I'm using Audacity to record so shall I?
Get a better sound card?
Use a different program?
Theres only one line in socket on my soundcard, do some soundcards come with
a stereo line in?

What's this "phono cable"? Describe, please. What plugs on each end?
Your Line In doubtless IS stereo, but requires a stereo mini-jack
plug. More details of your computer and soundcard, please?
Audacity sounds exactly like any other wav recorder. You may be
closer to a good result than you think :-)

Sorry I know alot of these questions are really basic but I hope you can
help!
