DABbling with youtube

Ah , innocent happy days:

Hope they paid stewpot a lot of money for making such a pratt of
himself. Still , you can't beat a really good bit of vested interest
spin.

Sounds a bit like they had the best of intentions when they designed
DAB. Trouble is they seemed to be living in some fantasy world, and not
stopping to consider how it would end up being used in the real world.

I imagine the guys who must've spent ages developing that navigation
system using DAB uttered a few expletives when GPS came on the
scene :) Wonder how it would have worked , triangulation with the
nearest transmitters I suppose.

I read somewhere that receivers could recognise different transmitters
by the TII codes, and use the difference in the timing of the signals
from different transmitters to work out how far they were, relative to
each other. It would then (in theory) be possible for the receiver to
work out where it is.

I have my doubts about how well this could have worked in practice.
