MP2 compatible hard drive players?

Sorry to return to a much raised question, but can anyone recommend any hard
drive audio players which handle MP2s reliably. I have a cheapo Venturer
model which has a go at it, but it throws up sporadic glitches which doing
so.
One question out of curiosity.

Why do you want to use MP2, when there are some very good free MP3 and
AAC encoders available?

Richard E.
You may want to consider buying a player which can be upgraded with the
open source Rockbox firmware replacement:

this thread in the forum seems to indicate that it works with MP2 files as
you would wish (DAB and DVB get a specific mention):

The firmware also gives you a load of extras you can safely ignore :-)

May try this myself as my Karma looks like it's giving up the ghost.
I will have to look into that one. Thanks.
so this player have a bug, some players don't accept the MP2 stream
correctly when there is PAD in the MPEG 1/2 layer II stream. If you can
upgrade your firmware, it will be better or inform the support about
this bug.

Yes Nicholas, I've tried chasing up the possibility of a firmware update,
but as the (limited and unreliable) compatibility with mp2 is undocumented
for the Venturer HDP3202BS, I don't hold out much hope for a positive
response from the manufacturers. A similar problem is found with the little
1 Gig solid state player with a Packard Bell badge (sold for around £40 in
Dixons). Worls fine with mp3s, and starts to play mp2s (with the suffix
changed to mp3) o.k., but then glitches start cropping up. No luck with a
useful firmware update on thier site, either.
the best way is to give 30s of a MP2 record to the manufacturer via the
support an request to them for an ew firmware which solve this problem.
That was easy for you to say.
If you don't do anything will have nothing.
