I can tolerate 128kbit/s MP2 Stereo
|
Currently listening to Sky CH 0128 Smooth Northwest through Stereo
Technics Seperate Amplifier SU-A900. Using Tannoy 611's Speakers.[Sky +
Pace box]
I class this feed better than FM Stereo & I do not dislike STEREO FM
either.

Theres a post a few threads up on where you can get proper well
engineered digital satellite radio but it ain't in the UK 'tho;(...
|
What I do dislike is too many feeds being below this bit rate=Mono
96kbit/s MP2.
I am looking forward to hearing a lot of internet feeds which are
apparently better than this.
I wonder how 128k MP3 or ACC will compare to my current feed on my PC
through these new speakers I am expecting for my new PC.
|
You won't get 128k AAC, you will get 64k if you're lucky. They will
see it as a way of doubling the number of stations they can have, not
increasing quality.
|
There was a 128k AAC stream I came across once from a station called
PlayRadioUK. Unfortunately it was AAC+ not AAC, even though AAC would
have been the better choice at that bit rate. Also less dynamic range
compression (preferably none at all) would have been nice.
Not a very competent choice, using AAC+ and lots of dynamic range
compression. It did sound rather good though. Pity the stream doesn't
seem to work any more.
At least it seems that some stations are prepared to use AAC for quality
rather than low bit rates. Perhaps one day some station will use it
properly at 128k.

I can not tolerate dab sounds worse than and some of his monkeys

Well then you don't have to read his posts.
Just like the way I don't listen to DAB.
(except for occasional non music stuff)

I think the word 'tolerate' is well chosen.
|
That may be true for some people, perhaps many people, but it is
cerainly not true for me. (it would need an extra "not" to be added).
