Which is best?

I've been using a Sony MZ-N505 for the past five years. It has finally
croaked, and now I need to buy a new one but I'm not sure which one to
get. There's so much information out there. I need advice! Here's
eight basic features I currently have and am hoping they're still
available on current MD Walkman models.
1- Line in (for analog recording)
2- "Mega-bass" (or some sort of bass control)
3- Ability to move a track(s) from one location to another
4- "T-mark" control
5- DC power input
6- LCD display
7- LP2 and LP4 modes (in case I want to edit any of my current discs)
8- G-Protection (keeps it from skipping while you're jogging)
Do any of the current models offer these features? Any info is
appreciated.

Personally, If I were to replace any of my portables, I'd buy a MZ-RH1
since it allows USB transfer of older recordings to the computer.

As for most of the features you cite... Standard equipment.
Except for the "Line in for analog recording". I didn't think that was on
all new equipment.

Here's the page with the HiMD models:

Looking at that page, it looks like there are only a few HiMD units that
don't have "line in" capabilities (e.g. Sony MZ-NH3D, Sony MZ-NH600D, Sony
MZ-DH10P, Sony MZ-EH1).

The Sony MZ-RH1 has it (and a mic input). If I were buying a new unit, and
money was no object, then I'd certainly buy this model, especially for the
feature: "USB transfer of older recordings to the computer". The ability to
transfer your older MD's to PC would be a good thing to do to backup your
music and allow you to migrate to another type of portable unit in the
future.
I don't believe a Hi-MD recorder would allow him to record using the LP2/LP4
modes - if he wanted to use them. Not to say he couldn't later convert the
I thought that all HiMD recorders could not only play older MD's, but could
record to them as well?
With HiMD you can record in LP2/LP4 modes only when the disc is
*not* formatted to HiMD, and then you cannot transfer them to PC
(unless you have a RH1?).

They can, but the newer HiMD recorders won't record in the old MD
format; only in the HiMD format. (Old MD's can be "HiMD formatted" which
gives them some extra capacity and treats them like small HiMDs.)

files using SS.

My NHF-800 lets me record in PCM (Wav) HI-SP, Regular SP, HI-LP (2 and
4) and Regular LP (2 and 4) in short every mode possible on a MD, any
MD, can be recorded in on my HI-MD.

I have no reason to believe the RH-1 would not have that ability
You're right John - it does have the same abilities.

The only limit is when I am not recording, but copying to the MD from
the computer using SS... Then I'm limited in what modes I can use.

But for mic or line in.. I choose from the full list of MD recording modes.
