Mini disc uploading
|
I have owned two mini disc portable recorders. Neither of them allowed
for digital uploading. What can I use to upload digitally? I don't
care if it is a mini disc deck. I could record with the portable and
upload with the deck. Any suggestions?

MZ-RH1 will let you upload legacy MD recordings and any new HiMD recordings
to PC via USB, but it's a bit pricy.
Any HiMD recorder will let you upload new HiMD recordings to PC via USB.
This can be cheaper than the MZ-RH1, but it's still a bit pricy.

Make that any HiMD recorder with a line input or mic input.

Sure? I would think it would be possible if you had a disc that was
recorded on a HiMD recorder with line and mic, to use one without a line
and mic to do the uploading.

Yes, I think that's possible. However, the original poster stated that
he didn't own any HiMD recorder. So he needs one with mic or line input
to make recordings in the first place.

I think that would be true, but I've no way to test that since I don't have
a HiMD. I'm just trying to stay on top of the new models, in case I decide
to buy one to replace my older MD units.

You may find that sticking with your existing MD recorders would be
cheapest. To upload these recordings to that PC you'll need an old home MD
deck. Look for a used MD deck that has an optical digital output. Also
look for a model that supports playing tracks with several seconds of
silence between them (in the manual look for a section titled, "Tips for
recording from MD's to tape"). Then get a PC sound card with an optical
digital input. When you play the tracks with the silence between them, you
can use software like CD Wave to record digitally to the PC and
automatically detect the tracks.

MZ-RH1 (the ultimate portable recorder for transfers to the PC).
One home deck you might look for is the MDS-JE640
