Headphones for home recommendation?

Which ones Don?...
Lambda Nova. I tried some of the really expensive ones, but frankly
Yes, considerably better.

they didn't sound any better.
Can anyone recommend headphones in the =A340 - =A375 range for use with a
hi-fi system, mp3 players, possibly even for TV or PC use. They
wouldnt be used out-and-about so size, trendiness etc is not important.
I like the Beyers and Sennheisers.
I'd say go to a decent store and try some out. Personally I've got
Sennheiser HD600s which I love; they're out of your price range but
definitely give some of the other Sennheisers a try.

By the way, if anyone convinces you to try Bose, give them a *very* long
test. On first impression they sound impressive but as far as I can tell
it's a very unnatural sound that will quickly get tiring.

Apart from Sennheiser and Beyer, it could be worth giving Sony a try. I used
to have a couple of pairs and found them very comfortable and pretty good
for the price.
Check out this link for some information and recommendations..........
Audio Technica ATAH-AD700 (open ear) and ATAH A700 (closed ear).

In my book second only to my Sennheiser HD 580s.
I don't know if you want open or closed: that depends on your needs.
If you want closed, check out the Sony MDR-7506 aka MDR-V6. You might
just be able to get them within your price range.
Grado SR60's.

Alternatively save for used Sennheiser HD600 or
HD650's. The latter two models have an open
design, so your environment should be quiet,
otherwise you will hear all the background noise.
Open back headphones make for much more pleasant listening IMHO.
I've had open headphones (Jensen Float) and I've had (still have) closed
ones (AKG K270 and Koss Pro4AA). I prefer the closed ones, as I find the
bass to be better, and I don't have to worry about disturbing others in
the room, nor be disturbed.
I still have an ancient pair of PRO-4As ( with AAA drivers ) in very tatty
condition. They must be ~ 35 yrs old !

How do you cope with their vice like grip on your skull ?
Small head ;-)
More to the point, how do you cope with their colouration of the
sound?
Poor hearing :)

I have a more modern pair, which I obtained for use in noisy
environments. My three-year old granddaughter likes wearing them, but
usually to listen to CBeebies.
Unaquired taste :)

-Mikkel, as she's only 3 she has all the time to make up her mind
The bass can be fixed on open-backed Sennheisers - all you need is a large
lump of blu-tak to fill the gaps!
(Seriously, this works - my HD600s sound great).

Some UK stores still have left over stock of the Technics RP-F880, it has 3.5mm jack
and nice long cable and very very good sound and is very comfortable to wear. It is
an open design. The going price range is 25-50 UKP and new they ran nearly 80 UKP.
Had a pair of those until they got *eaten* - very comfortable, as you say
and a nice overall sound for cheap cans....
You got pet problems?

-Mikkel, try goldfish.
I have - they ain't too bad with a little lemon juice on 'em.....
