OT? - or recommendations available for different DAB models in UK?
|
Is the Evoke-1XT(DAB) at -
worth the money? My specification requirements are fairly modest and
it looks quite a bargain.
Any opinions on it, or a suitable competitor?
TIA.

I've had a few DAB sets now and think that Roberts stuff is worth the
extra EVERY time (and the Perstel stuff is reliable too). All the
others have proven to be shoddy tat with poor software and construction.

Never had any problems with it here, s.w.m.b.o. uses it daily with no
complaints!
|
I've just listened to "You and Yours" (BBC Listen Again) and the first
item is an assessment of DAB, an assessment which has given me pause.
|
My reply was about the actual equipment being trouble free, for the
kitchen and bedroom the sound is fine, if I wanted to "enjoy" music I
would not use DAB ;)

Jack Schofield of the Guardian does a pretty convincing hatchet job on
it. He compares the UK stance compared to Finland, France, Sweden,
Denmark, et al, and AAC+.
|
Jack Schofield clearly got his information from my website, so if you want
to read up in more depth about the problems of DAB in the UK, have a look at
my website:

If you want it I was going to send it through the post - I'm not going to
