How Long To Get Transmitters On Air D1?
|
Digital One have had loads of transmitters in their future transmitter list
for over 2 months and haven't managed to switch one on yet. I am in
Scarborough and eagerly awaiting the switch on, just how long are Digital
One likely to take to get these transmitters on air. They say they are
switching the 13 transmitters in the list by mid 2009 but they haven't even
started yet, what takes so long?

Well you guess is probably almost as good as mine.
But I would suggest there are issues such as,
planning permission,

Yes, it took Arqiva about 18 months, and an appeal, to add two poxy little
Band III dipoles to an existing 100 ft mast, so my town could be provided with

Wow, that is ridiculous. Planning permission shouldn't even be needed in
that situation in my opinion. These local councils need to get a life.

finding mast space to set up the aerials,
and probably some logistical problems of actually getting the
aerials/equipment installed.
In the end though there are probably more complications to the process
than you or I would know about.
If you think Scarborough is taking a long time, Tombridge Wells has been
in the list since around about 2004, and last time I checked (about a
month ago) it had not been switched on.

They switched on Newport (Christchurch) in South Wales a few months
back, so it seems they are doing some rolling out.
