Have you tried a loop antenna? For example,

For a moment there I thought hadn't noticed that it is for a MW
frequency. However looking at that web page it seems that you can build
a reasonably practice loop aerial for MW.
I'm curious about how a loop antenna can work, when the size of the
antenna is presumably much smaller than the wavelength of the signal. I
hope that web page goes into some detail on this.

wuith every portable eg FIP paris 585khz analog here near Dunkerque signal
0,5 on 10
with loop diamater of 86cm -- signal becomes 7/10
On Am the gain is much more that on SW.
On SW I see a 3 led increase with my UNamplified loop on a Sony 2001D.
